MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) - At Ole Miss, Archie Manning is a legend. Streets hold his name. Cars even slow down to 18 miles per hour, because his old jersey number is the campus speed limit.
Archie is the patriarch of a family driven by football, and now his sons, Peyton and Eli, have are carrying on his legacy in Oxford, Knoxville, and in the National Football League.
When Archie Manning returned to his college home for the premiere of a documentary about football's first family, there was a Hollywood feel.
"I love my school and love being here," he said. "I feel a little awkward talking about it myself because it's about me, but I want this crowd here to enjoy it."
Mid-Southerners will recognize several family connections watching Rory Karpf's "The Book of Manning."
"I think it's a little bit about family, and I hope that will be a good thing and a good influence so I think Rory made us proud," said Archie.
