“True Blood” writer joins Ole Miss faculty

He's written episodes of  the hit HBO show "True Blood," and is working on a story for another HBO show "Treme." He's also written a screenplay for Showtime's "Weeds" and is working on a crime drama. But, according to the Ole Miss Zing, Chris Offutt's also got a new career plan ahead - joining the faculty of the university's English department.

Offutt, who's originally from Kentucky, said he's excited to be back in the south and is especially happy to live in Oxford, a city he says has an appreciation for artists.

“Oxford is the literary center of the South, a town where it’s OK to be a writer,” Offutt said. “I’ve never experienced such warmth and hospitality and acceptance anywhere else.”
