Oxford to host folk festival, music and movies in the park | Arts & Culture

(WMC-TV) - If you’re in need of something to do after the fireworks and barbeque a local city has a few events planned after the holiday. In Oxford you could participate in a folk festival, painting class or movies and concerts in the park.
On July 10, The Yocona International Folk Festival will be bringing dance, stories, and music to the area. This event will be held at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center and it will lasts from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
This festival is free, although donations are welcome.
Also at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center people will have the chance to hone their painting skills on July 12. Cheryl Mossberg will host a three-hour step by step acrylic painting class. The cost is $35 per person and there are 15 available spots.

On Friday July 13, and every Friday in June people can Bring lawn chairs, blankets, coolers and have a picnic in Avent park while listening to live music and enjoying a movie. The music from Love Cannon starts at seven and the 2010 release of Karate Kid will begin at 8p.m.
This music and movie night is free and open to the public.
