Local woman will celebrate a century | Community Spirit

(WMC-TV) - It is a milestone that most people do not live to see.

Ova Lou Griffin Brown will celebrate her 100th birthday on Thursday, October 11.    In a letter to the Action News 5 newsroom, her grand daughter, Lisa Fields Jenkins, says Brown is a blessing to the family.

"It's such a rarity to accomplish reaching 100, so I wanted to honor her," said Jenkins.

Brown, who is a recent great-great grandmother of a 6-week old, will have a centurion celebration on October 13 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bruce Community Living Center in Bruce, which is about 20 miles south of Oxford.
