The American Red Cross and the University of Mississippi Mortar Board Chapter are inviting the public to attend their upcoming humanitarian dinner.
The event, scheduled for Thursday, February 17, 6:30 p.m., is at the Inn at Ole Miss.
What does it mean to be a humanitarian? How far would you go to serve your fellow man?
Those are just few questions that guests are challenged to consider, as did Ole Miss Associate Provost Dr. Noel Wilkin before joining the Red Cross. Currently, Wilkin serves as board chairman of the Red Cross Oxford office. He is encouraging others to hear the story that's inspiring givers to do more.
"It is easy to take what we have for granted, to get caught up in everyday tasks of life and forget about how fortunate we are,” Wilkin said. “When disaster strikes, our reliance upon everyday conveniences and basic needs become clearly apparent. The Humanitarian Dinner is an opportunity to reflect and think about those who are struggling to meet everyday needs - people who have suffered disasters, people right here in our own communities."
Those interested in experiencing this life-changing journey can call the Red Cross for ticket information at 601-582-8151.
