JDRF's 2012 Promise Ball: “Voyage to a Cure” to benefit diabetes research

The West Tennessee Chapter of JDRF is proud to announce that Evergreen Packaging will present the 12th Annual Promise Ball, "Voyage to a Cure," on March 31, 2012.  The Promise Ball is being chaired by Summer and Cecil Godman along with Honorary Chairman John Rooney, President and CEO of Evergreen Packaging.  The black tie optional event will take place at the Hilton Memphis, and is expected to raise more than $300,000 for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.  The event features a cocktail reception, seated dinner, silent and live auctions, a unique Fund A Cure appeal and fabulous entertainment by Kallen Esperian and The Distraxshuns.

Short and sweet - that’s the Girl Scout Cookie Sale in a nutshell.  Customers only have 2 weekends remaining to get those delicious flavors in 2012.  “Girls will continue to have booth sales throughout the area for the next 2 weekends, but after that, they’re gone,” said Jenny Jones, Director of Marketing and Communications for the Girl Scouts Heart of the South.

The 59-county council reports that sales have been very good this year and the organization is expecting a record-breaking sale just in time to celebrate their 100th Anniversary.

River City Brewers Festival

The 3rd annual River City Brewers Festival will be Saturday, March 31 in Handy Park on Beale Street.

Beer from the across the country will be available for sampling as well as samples of signature dishes from some of Memphis' finest restaurants such as Hard Rock Cafe and Pa Pa Pia's.

International brews will also be available for sampling.

More than 60  brewers are participating in the event with over 100 different flavors of beer. Samples are included in the price of admission for the festival.

The Ronald McDonald House has been selected as the benefactor for this year's festival.

Eco Expo!

The hugely successful Eco Expo is back with even more exhibitors showing us how to treat our earth more gently with green products, materials, services, and organizations.

Exhibitors will be offering ideas and information, and some will be selling their products and services.

The Expo is Sunday February 5th, 2012 from 11am until 3pm at Temple Israel--1376 East Massey Road...Memphis, TN.

For kids and adults of all ages, there’s something for everyone!

Learn, eat, explore, or just visit with some really nice people.

On Saturday, December 3rd, over 100 students, parents and faculty members from Harding braved the chilly, early morning temperatures to encourage runners and show their support for the patients of St. Jude.

"During the holidays we come together to help keep the food pnatires and tory closets stocked throughout our community," said Jennifer Balink, vice president of donor relations for Lifeblood.  "We need to make sure we do the same with the blood bank so patients will have the care they need when they need it."
