(WMC-TV) - Oxford is celebrating its 175th year and folks are gearing up for a big party on Saturday.

Ross Bjork, the new athletic director at Ole Miss, is just one of several people who will be in a dunking booth for the Boys and Girls Club.

While the city’s Square has certainly seen some changes over the years, local businesses credit city organizations for preserving the culture.

“The Oxford Downtown Council was started about 30 years ago by a group of local businessman that saw the Square was really going to hold its own, and the State of Mississippi actually looks to Oxford as one of its great gems that we've preserved,” said Jeff Johnson, of the Oxford Downtown Council.

The party will include a petting zoo, street vendors, and double-decker bus tours.
