(WMC-TV) - When Courtney Pearson becomes Ole Miss’ first African-American homecoming queen later this month, she will wear a tiara donated by a local Oxford business.
Lammons Fine Jewelry in Oxford will also provide the crown for the queens of Lafayette High School and Oxford High School.
Interim campus programming director Bradley Baker is proud that an area business is getting involved.
“As an Oxford resident I certainly appreciate the opportunity to work with a locally-owned family business such as Lammons,” Baker said.
The owners at Lammons can’t wait to see all three queens later this month.
“Partnering with Ole Miss is a dream come true,” says Allan King, co-owner of Lammons Fine Jewelry. “We worked with Ole Miss to select a tiara that we feel any young lady would be proud to wear,” adds co-owner Nancy King. “We can’t wait to see the homecoming queen riding in the parade and walking onto the field in a Lammons tiara.”
