Ole Miss men’s golfer Tom Brown was among 146 Division I players to be named a Cleveland/Srixon All-America Scholar as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Wednesday.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum of cumulative grade point average of 3.2.

A native of Hertfordshire, England, Brown holds a 3.52 GPA in Exercise Science.  He is one of six players from the Southeastern Conference to earn this honor and the fifth player in Ole Miss history to achieve this distinction.

“Tom is an outstanding example of what a ‘student-athlete’ should be,” head coach Ernest Ross said. “He takes pride in his school work and sets a good example for others.  I am really proud of Tom and what he has accomplished.”

Brown competed in all 10 tournaments in 2012 for the Rebels and recorded a season-low 71 twice, including in the second round of the SEC Championship.

Off the course, Brown made the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the second time and the Dean’s List.
