Police in Oxford are saying even though it might be a holy day for some,it doesn't mean you can illegally park.

Police in the North Mississippi town said they are having a problem with parking on Sunday in the square.

They said there are too many churches in the area and not enough parking.

Oxford police said it has become more about safety.

Some churches have started offering shuttles in response.

It was a deadly holiday season along Mississippi Highways.

Five fatalities were reported between Friday and Christmas day.

Also during that period, Mississippi state troopers investigated 211 crashes, issued more than 5,000 traffic citations and arrested 111 drunk drivers.

Sightseers have two chances this November to take a historic bus tour of Oxford.

The route takes you through the University of Mississippi as well as stops at two historic homes.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children and includes commentary from your tour guide and historian. 

The ticket price also includes admission into the L.Q.C. Lamar House and Cedar Oaks Mansion.
