Photo Gallery | Oxford's Square Books named 'Bookstore of the Year'
Square Books in Oxford was named "Bookstore of the Year" by Publishers Weekly.
The Oxford Bookstore was founded in 1979 by Richard and Lisa Howorth and has since grown to three locations on the historic Oxford square.
It is home of the University of Mississippi and many great writers, including William Faulkner, Barry Hannah, Larry Brown, and, for a time, both Willie Morris and John Grisham, according to the bookstore's website.
This is the 20th anniversary of the Publisher's Weekly award.
A Grove Atlantic publisher noted in a letter to the awards committee that Square Books is one of the greatest bookstores in America.
